Dothan Practical Shooters

USPSA

We run USPSA sanctioned matches on second and fourth Sunday each month

Steel Challenge

We run sanctioned Steel Challenge matches on 1st Sunday as well as third weekend, each month

USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) is a "run and gun" sport using pistols and pistol caliber carbines. It involves drawing from a holster, moving through a course of fire, and engaging a variety of cardboard and steel targets. Each match is officiated by trained Range Officer volunteers who ensure the safety of the participants as well as fair and accurate scoring. These events are open to the public for viewing and competing (eye and ear protection required at all times on the range).

Steel Challenge is another shooting sport, and is affiliated with USPSA. This beginner friendly competition focuses on engaging steel plates. Pistols, pistol caliber carbines, and rimfire firearms are used in these competitions. This is a "stand and shoot" style of competition where all shooting takes place from a single position, with small exceptions. These matches are very beginner friendly with less movement, gear requirements, and the fact that competitors can use rimfire firearms without drawing from a holster. Like USPSA, these events are open to the public for viewing and competing (eye and ear protection required at all times on the range).

We always welcome new shooters to our events! If you would like to compete, feel free to register ahead using PractiScore, or you can just show up to the match. Registering ahead of time does help us out. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Contact the match director at DothanPracticalShooters@gmail.com
